Land Remediation
The cleanup of sites is costly, time consuming and requiring a lot of labour and equipment. Throughout previous decades, disposal to landfill has been seen as a quick and simple method of site remediation. However, whilst ‘dig and dump’ was previously a cheap option, the lack of suitable landfill voids together with the removal of the Landfill Tax exemption for contaminated land has substantially increased disposal costs. With Landfill Tax increasing at £8/tonne/annum, these costs are set to escalate year on year. Through its in-house expertise George Killoughery Ltd can assist in the selection and treatment (or reduction in volume) for disposal of the contaminated soils to minimise the financial burden on construction projects. We can provide both on-site treatment techniques or we can offer integrated waste handling and remediation at one of our 3 Waste Management Facilities, minimising the Landfill Tax burden.
We can provide a comprehensive range of technologies capable of remediating soil without the need for disposal to landfill, including the treatment of:
- Hydrocarbon & Chlorinated Solvents Contamination
- Asbestos Contaminated Soils
- Heavy Metal Contaminated Soils
- Japanese Knotweed/Giant Hogweed Contaminated Soils
